Resveratrol is a Toxic Defense Chemical and Has Zero Anti-Aging Effects

The supplement-pushers at T-Nation are back with another advertisement-article about their unnatural and toxic supplements, this time with the claim that the polyphenol ‘Resveratrol,’ a potent poison, has “anti-ageing” effects trough ‘Angiogenesis.’

Well, I totally debunked Resveratrol back in January 5, 2024, when former T-Nation writer TC Luoma wrote some complete pseudo-science garbage about polyphenols and Resveratrol in particular. To make a short recap, I’ll recite some of what I wrote in that article. You can also follow the link if you want to see what ridiculous claims they made that time.

Polyphenols are simply one type of many different toxic chemicals that belongs to the collective family of “phytonutrients.” Phytonutrients are very poisonous chemical compounds produced by plants that help to protect them from germs, fungi, bugs, and other environmental threats. It’s not clear who first coined the term “phytonutrients,” but they used to be called “phytochemicals.” Likely, some evil genius changed the name to deceive people into believing that these defense chemicals are “nutrition,” which they absolutely are not! These chemicals are not present in animals, nor humans; they are unique to plants as a part of their self-defense mechanism.

Phytonutrients like polyphenols, such as Resveratrol, are simply plant toxins, chemicals produced to protect the plants from being eaten and destroyed. These chemicals are produced to hurt and even kill those trying to consume the plant. Polyphenols are thus a potent poison. But as always, the inverted “science” does not understand the first thing about human physiology or how our bodies actually work.

These defense chemicals are most readily found within the seeds of fruits and grains. Seeds are the most toxic part of any plant, as that is how they reproduce. Plants want their seeds to be unharmed and either spread by the wind or by an animal consuming their fruit without chewing the seeds, simply swallowing them so they come out the other end unharmed. However, along came retarded humans who crushed the seeds to make flour, seed/vegetable oil and other useless and extremely toxic things, hence the inverted science on “phytonutrients” and extremely toxic and dangerous compounds such as Resveratrol.

So, with that recap out of the way, let’s see what complete and utter nonsense T-Nation come up with this time.

Everyone knows by now that resveratrol is something found in red wine and that it’s somehow related to healthy aging. If you really know your stuff, you also know that resveratrol is anti-inflammatory, testosterone-elevating, and aromatase-blocking (it helps control estrogen). It’s even neuroprotective.”

No, it does none of these things and I debunked and explained that in my previous article. Being “anti-inflammatory” is very dangerous, as that means that the compound is so extremely toxic that when ingested, your body has to prioritize neutralizing it, hence the temporary reduction in inflammation, and as you should know by now, inflammation is a part of the healing process. You only have inflammation if your body is trying to heal, repair and/or detox itself from something. Shutting down that process means more build-up and more damage. Totally retarded!

“Now we know that resveratrol does something else, too: It situationally facilitates capillary growth.”

That statement is based on the theoretical model of a cell and the limited understanding of how it works and what is actually happening. Also, the few studies on this were all performed on rats. Rats are not carnivores and has no similarities to humans, to our metabolic pathways or physiology.

Who Cares About Capillaries?

Resveratrol has vasodilation properties, meaning it “inflates” blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure while also allowing more blood flow.

It does this through four key mechanisms, all of which are involved in the activation of an enzyme called endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), which leads to the production of nitric oxide (NO). It’s this NO that leads to blood vessels turning into a four-lane tunnel instead of a traffic-jammed two-lane tunnel.”

While this might sound like a good thing, as in increased and more “efficient” blood flow, you need to understand the mechanics behind it. In this case, as Resveratrol is a very potent and toxic poison, when ingested and it reaches the blood, your body reacts to the poison by increasing blood flow to easier detoxify and to get rid of the poison as it will damage cells and the walls of your arteries. This is not difficult to understand. It’s a physiological reaction. And while the reaction seems to have beneficial sides to it, it’s the result from acute poisoning and from taking damage. That is NOT a good thing.

Sure, as a ‘musclehead’ or a bro-science retarded athlete, you might think that it’s cool to be able to see more vascularity and to perform a tiny bit better for a short while, but at what cost? It’s a defense chemical, it was made to hurt or even kill you. You will take damage.

This is good because bigger, more pliable blood vessels equate to less blood clotting and reduced blood pressure, less plaque formation, and strong erections.”

This might be true if the effect was achieved by a natural physiological reaction, and not from acute poisoning. Also, the effect is very temporary, as your body will break down and discharge the poison. The effects that T-Nation describes, such as “less blood clotting” and “less plaque formation,” are very hypotheoretical and would require these ‘vasodilation’ effects to be permanent for years upon years. The same is true to keep the other effects, which means that you will have to continue to poison yourself daily to keep that vasodilation effect. We could only speculate what that would lead to several years down the line, but severe cardiovascular damage and organ failure is quite certain.

Now, if you want to reduce blood viscosity (the thickness and stickiness of the blood,) increase blood flow, and simply making the blood flow better and easier, reducing the strain on your heart, all you need to do is to ground yourself. Real research has show that when the body is grounded, as in ‘earthing,’ blood viscosity is reduced threefold! This is incredibly more powerful than poisoning yourself, and it’s also natural and quite cheap. Going barefoot is free, and a grounding wristband is extremely cheap, only a few bucks, and a grounding mat and a grounding bed sheet is not that expensive and it’s a one-time cost.

Resveratrol does something else, too. It helps build capillary bridges – ladders, if you will – to reestablish and maintain blood flow to the heart when arteries need a little help. This process by which new capillaries grow is known as angiogenesis.”

Angiogenesis is a process where new capillary blood vessels form from pre-existing ones. This is a natural process for the growth and development of tissues, organs, and the entire circulatory system which takes place during the development of any living being, growing from a fetus, into a child, and into an adult. It might also happen due to stress and the need for better delivery of nutrients and electron charges (wrongfully believed to be oxygen.)

With that said, the “science” on angiogenesis is very limited and the believed effects on this mechanic from Resveratrol is likely due to the same poisoning effect as described above. If a compound “stimulates” or “forces” the body to grow new capillary blood vessels, it’s either because it does damage to the existing ones and/or the body need more and better ways to quickly detox and flush it out of your system. Again, the effects might sound good on paper, but that does not mean that the mechanics and reasons to why it is happening is good.

Forming “Ladders” to Muscles Too

“Resveratrol also appears to build capillary ladders to muscle cells, at least in animals. By doing so, it makes muscle fibers more resistant to fatigue and more “age resistant” in general. When skeletal muscles age, they’re sometimes plagued by “tubular aggregates” (TA), which are defined as a “subsarcolemmal accumulation of granular materials.”

Tubular aggregates are poorly understood by “science” and they are defined as morphological abnormalities characterized by the accumulation of densely packed tubules in skeletal muscle fibers – as observed through electron microscopes on dead and dissolved tissue. In other words, it’s highly theoretical based on irregular findings and their interpretation of them.
However, they believe it may be connected to muscle pain, cramping, weakness and a quicker onset of muscle fatigue when exercising.

One theory is that TAs are caused by injuries (or aging) to the sarcoplasmic reticulum – a membrane found in muscle tissues – which screws up the calcium flux: the reaction that enables muscle to contract and relax.”

Keyword being ‘theory,’ as tubular aggregates are still speculative and theoretical “science.”

All those TAs lead to muscle weakness, but experiments with rats found that relatively modest amounts of resveratrol (0.04% of diet) led to an enhanced capillary network that also reduced the number of TAs. This enhanced capillary network occurred independent of muscle fiber type, which is cool because normally, type IIB fibers (fast twitch) have fewer capillaries to begin with.”

In rats. Well, the acute poisoning might lead to the same effect in humans over time too. But again, at what cost? A severely damaged cardiovascular system? Organ failure?

Now, let’s say that we accumulate a lot of dysfunctional cells due to environmental toxins, bad nutrition, physiological damage, and ageing; perhaps some that we can call ‘tubular aggregates,’ what does the body normally do to such damaged and dysfunctional cells?

Yes, your body breaks them down and recycle them during autophagy! Autophagy is actually an ongoing natural process of life, but it’s halted every time you eat something, as your body switches from breaking down, recycling and maintenance to building. Autophagy resumes as soon as you’re back in a fasted state again, as in when all nutrients has been absorbed from the food in the small intestine and all the nutrients has been used or stored (and blood concentrations has returned to normal.) That can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours after a meal. So, if you eat several times a day, and even worse, just before you go to bed, you will hardly ever tap into autophagy.

So, to naturally fight these “tubular aggregates” or any other dysfunctional cells, all you need to do is some fasting in order to fully activate autophagy. You can do this daily by making sure that you have your last meal no later than 4 to 6 hours before bed, so you are naturally fasted when you sleep, as nature intended. And you can also do some real prolonged fasting, as in several days, which is advisable to do at least once or twice a year.

An Interesting Note

Resveratrol seems rather fickle in which specific capillaries it chooses to nurture. For instance, it seems to inhibit capillary growth in animal tumors while it increases capillarization around the heart and, in at least one experiment, animal muscle fibers. Why it has this fickle nature isn’t clear. It may well be that the resveratrol-induced angiogenesis occurs mainly in older people.”

This “fickle nature” is not hard to understand. Resveratrol is a potent poison that is released into your bloodstream where it does damage and your body need to make new capillaries to compensate. Again, not a good thing. It might be a temporarily beneficial thing for someone who has destroyed and clogged-up their heart by consuming carbohydrates and seed/vegetable oils, but then fasting would be a much better and safer approach.

And tumors are either a storage of toxins to keep them from destroying sensitive and vital tissue, or they are morphed cell masses made to better neutralize high blood glucose, as seen in carbohydrate junkies.
Either way, limiting the nature of tumors, as they are formed to save your life as you are doing extreme damage to yourself, is not a good thing. That means that new tumors will be formed instead to keep up with the ongoing threat. However, other experiments have shown that resveratrol enhances the energy-producing capability of mitochondria (the energy-producing organelles of the cell) in young and old athletes, which, by itself, increases exercise endurance.

Again, what the mitochondria is and how it functions are theoretical speculations. It’s a model — same as the theoretical model of a complete cell.

However, if we through experiments could observe what we believe is a temporarily increase in energy output, it would simply be from an increase in metabolism to more efficiently purge the body from acute poisoning. That is actually how a lot of these toxic compounds work. The body get poisoned by a concentrated toxin and to detoxify as quickly as possible, the body enters a state of ‘fight-or-flight’ where hormones are upregulated, heart rate is increased, blood flow is increased, muscle strength is increased, alertness is increased, and so on.
Again, it might sound good on paper, but it’s from acute poisoning and you are taking damage.

After this, T-Nation plugged their toxic resveratrol supplement with the absurd statement that you would have to consume 140 bottles of wine to get the same effective amount of resveratrol. Hey, wait a minute. If you are completely retarded, you might think “gosh, that’s potent stuff, it’s like 140 bottles, wow.”
However, if you have a somewhat functional brain, you would instead ask the question, “how frikkin’ unnatural and toxic is it to take something that only occurs in nature in such a small dose, and it’s still is a toxic defense chemical made to kill, that you would willingly take a dosage equivalent to 140 bottles of wine?” And you would do that to yourself daily? That is insane!

So, while Resveratrol might force the body to grew new capillaries, it will definitely not help with your lifespan as it is a poison, and it will cause tremendous damage to your body, likely leading to cardiovascular damage and organ failure long before you would die of old age.

Please, do not take any kind of extract from plants, or any kind of chemical supplement. They are all toxic, and if you do not understand physiology, you will not understand the mechanics of what is actually happening.
However, it would be common sense to anyone that taking an extract of something that is oftentimes many thousands time more concentrated than you would ever find in nature is not a good idea. You would never be able to get that amount naturally, not even close.

Logic and common-sense people. Please use it.
