Do TRT and Anabolic Androgenic Steroids Cause Cancer?

The Matrix is at it again. On April 30, I reviewed the extremely bad advertisement-article at T Nation for “natural” testosterone boosters for TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy.) The same day, John Foley commented on my article about TRT and some people getting aggressive brain tumors. Now, as of yesterday, T Nation published another article on Steroids and TRT and the possibility of them causing cancer. So, I will give in to the synchronicity of the simulation and review that article as well, as some of my readers are interested in this topic.

The article by Cy Wilson for T Nation is based on a recent study titled “Excessive androgen exposure and risk of malignancies: A cohort study,” which was published on April 11, 2024.

Cy begins his article with the statement that, “Everyone thinks that androgen abuse causes cancer, but does it? A new study gives us some insights.”

He then continues with, “While exogenous testosterone, especially in the form of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) has largely been cleared of causing an increased risk of prostate cancer, whether other androgens may cause issues, especially when abused, isn’t known. A recent study evaluated a cohort of long-term androgen users to provide an answer.”

Well, TRT should simply be a low dosage of testosterone bound to an ester that breaks down somewhat slowly in the body, and thus releasing the free and active form of testosterone over time – requiring less frequent injections. In the past they usually used cypionate or enanthate esters, which would require a frequency of at least weekly injections to keep a stable level of testosterone (half-life of about 5 days.) Now they use new versions of testosterone undecanoate with tea seed oil or castor oil, such as ‘Nebido,’ which can last for up to three months, however, the half-life is more like 20 to 30 days depending on the oil, so to keep stable levels you should still opt for an injection every 3 to 4 weeks or so.

The Study

Researchers evaluated a group of men who were kicked out of Danish fitness centers as part of an anti-doping initiative from 2006 and forward. The study included 1,189 androgen users and 59,450 controls, with a mean age of 27 years at enrolment.

And to quote Cy about the findings;

When they compared the two groups and the incidence rate of all forms of cancer (except for non-melanoma skin cancer), it was effectively indistinguishable. In fact, none of the 1,189 androgen users developed prostate or breast cancer.

You might assume the case is closed and think that cancer isn’t a concern with androgens. However, the authors point out several limitations of this study. First, cancers such as prostate and breast cancer are rarely diagnosed in men under age 50. The follow-up period may still be too short to detect an increase in cases. Second, while androgen use can be presumed, it may not be the case that everyone in the study was abusing androgens considering the broad category of doping substances.”

Well, first of all, if you actually understand what cancer is, this is not that surprising. Cancer is a natural survival mechanism to protect your body from continuous toxemia. In other words, if you constantly expose yourself to toxins at a higher rate than you can detoxify them, and/or high levels of blood sugar (as in consuming a lot of carbohydrates every single day,) your body will form tumors to encapsulate these toxins and mutate some cells to better handle blood glucose to more quickly lower the blood levels as more sensitive tissue otherwise would die from the exposure. I’ve covered this in-depth in my articles, “My Take on Cancer, Prevention, and Healing,” and “Cancer is a Natural Survival Mechanism (Early-Stage Cancer Detection).” If you haven’t already, please read these before you continue.

Now, testosterone injections have been around since 1937 and became wildly popular in the early 1950’s with the first more “long-acting” esters such as cypionate (1951) and enanthate (1952.) They were immediately used within all kind of sports alongside the much more toxic oral steroid supplements.
Although the dosages back then among bodybuilders, Olympic lifters, Football players, Track and Field athletes, and so on was much lower than it is today, their dosages still ranged from 250 mg to 500 mg a week, which is almost twice the dosage of most TRT protocols today. Still, cancer was unheard of back then. Actually, not one single bodybuilder or strength athlete died with any kind of “cancer-connection” until the 2010’s and 2020’s.
Also, the dosage used by athletes, and especially bodybuilders increased dramatically in the late 80’s and during the 90’s, going from the standard 500 mg a week to 1000 mg or even 1500 mg a week. Even recreational users usually ran cycles with 750 to 1000 mg, and they still do. And of course, the more advanced athletes also use blends of different esters, in addition with growth hormone, insulin, different peptides, and such. That has been going on since the early 90’s.

So, it’s obvious that a proper synthesized testosterone molecule, which is recognized by our body as our natural testosterone, has nothing to do with poisoning us and thus forming tumors and cancer. If the synthesized testosterone was not fully bioavailable and thus toxic, we would have seen “cancer” skyrocketing in the 70’s and 80’s among athletes, and also recreational users, as in regular gym-goers, who make up the huge majority of all steroid users.

Now, we have still seen “cancer” increase as of late, especially among athletes and even TRT users as they get more news coverage. So, what have changed? Well, there are a lot of variables. The biggest one is of course that most people today take a lot more drugs (especially stimulants) and other medications, including totally useless and very toxic vaccines. We also see most athletes deceived by the ‘calorie’ dogma and the modern food industry, where they force down energy-dense junk food and tons of useless “health” and “sport” supplements. In the 50’s, 60’s, 70’, and even the early 80’s, most active people, including athletes, had a nutritional base of meat and eggs, and some had a tiny amount of carbs now and then, usually from rice or potatoes. But they knew that “steak and eggs” built muscle, as in our proper human species-specific diet. However, as processed foods took over, more and more athletes turned to carb-heavy plant-based slave-foods, and we know that these foods are full of toxins. And as mentioned previously, consuming carbohydrates are highly toxic as they elevate your blood glucose which damages sensitive tissues.

Another concern is simply the injections themselves, as the new more long-acting anabolic androgenic steroids, as used in TRT, are based on very toxic seed oils that takes months for our bodies to break down. Combine that with a bad diet, a toxic environment, and high stress levels and you have a recipe for disaster (especially cardiovascular disease, which has become much more common as of late.)

Interestingly however, the authors did find that in those individuals who did receive a diagnosis of some other form of cancer, androgen users had a substantially lower survival rate over 10 years post-diagnosis, versus controls. Of course, this could be confounded by many other variables, but it’s interesting.

Indeed. As I’ve mentioned in previous articles, strenuous exercise ages you, as it is stress that breaks down the body. The same is true for carrying a lot of excessive body mass, as in muscle mass and/or fat mass. Even more so if your diet is crap, as in consuming a lot of man-made foods, especially processed plant-based crap. So, many of the people in this study would fit this category, and thus have a much higher biological age than their actual age. So, of course, they were going to die sooner, cancer or no cancer.

Take-Home Point

“Androgen users should take some comfort in the finding of no increase in cancer rates over an average period of 11 years. However, it’s still too early to rule out any increase in all forms of cancer because the median age of cancer diagnosis is in the mid-60s.”

As I said, it’s not the testosterone that is the problem, or a lot of athletes and bodybuilders from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s would have died with cancer as of the last 20 to 30 years. Still, we have not really seen an increase until very recently, and that is likely because of a multitude of other factors, as we see the same increase among all kind of populations. Many of us are simply living an extremely toxic lifestyle.

Also, brain tumors are most likely from direct radiation exposure, as in using wireless headphones, in-ear equipment and such, which has been around for about 20+ years now. Never use it! Only use wired equipment if you really need it.

As I said in the other article on TRT. The best way to make sure your body is working as optimally as it can is to adopt our natural species-appropriate diet of animal-based foods, as in meat, organ meats, plenty of animal fat, and some of the produce of animals such as eggs. This will also eliminate most known toxins that are found in all man-made and processed foods.

If you still are in need of TRT, I would probably check the black market, as in trusted and highly rated underground labs, as Big Pharma might put more in the vials than they actually tell us, just like with the vaccines. I, personally, would not trust anything from a doctor or a pharmacy. And I would also recommend to stick with proven esters. Although weekly or bi-weekly injections might seem like a pain for the average guy, it’s likely safer than the Frankenstein oils that can last for months in your system.

Although I have a lot more to say on this subject, I think I managed to get in the most important bits as my 45 minutes are up for this morning.
With that said, if you need help or guidance with TRT or nutritional plans, health issues, fat loss, and/or transitioning from your current way of eating to our natural species-appropriate, species-specific way of eating, or going fully ‘raw’ carnivore, I’m available for both coaching and consultation.
