No, It’s not About Protein, It’s About Nutrients

And here I thought we had put this protein debate to rest. However, the “Chief Content Officer” Chris Shugart, over at T-Nation, managed to find yet another “study” where he, just like the dimwits performing the study, draw some seriously flawed conclusions. Chris begins the article in the typical ‘T-Nation’ fashion with some mocking disguised as humor about telling people who are a little bit ‘too pudgy’ to simply stop ‘eating so damn much.’ […]

More Studies on High Protein Diets and Fat Loss – What Really Happened

Here we go again, it’s only been a little over a week, and the “Chief Content Officer” Chris Shugart over at T-Nation is yet again advocating for high protein diets, while advertising their own chemical shit-storm of a protein powder. While I do agree that most people need more animal protein in their diet, and especially animal fats, I do not necessarily agree with the conclusions drawn from these studies or the recommended approaches

Protein for Body Composition

Let’s take a break from the world-stage theatre in Israel and instead look at another article from Chris Shugart, the ‘Chief Content Officer’ at T-Nation. This time Chris looked at a new “study” where they simply increased the intake of protein by a measly 21 grams for a group of overweight people. To summarize the study, a group of “researchers” gathered up 200 people of overweight or obese men and women from all age

Review: The 90/90 Fasting Diet

Back in the 90’s, circa 1997, when I ran Ironmag; the first real online magazine of its kind, we featured the Animal Diet, one of the first real ‘intermittent fasting’ diets for bodybuilders and gymrats. It was tailored for fat loss and simply consisted of a pre-workout snack and a post-workout ketogenic-style meal. That was it, and it still was better than most other ‘intermittent fasting’ diets that followed 10 or even 20 years

The Fasted Cardio Debate

As You probably know, I’ve worked most of my life, or at least 28+ years professionally within the Health-, Fitness-, Gym-, Body Composition-, Sports-, Media- and Professional Athlete Industry, and one of the few websites I still randomly visit is T-Nation, and mostly because my old colleague from the 90’s, Christian Thibadeau, still writes for them on a regular basis. A few days ago, their ‘Chief Content Officer,’ Chris Shugart, published the article “The

Non-Linear Diet for ‘Lifters’ (What We Actually Did in the Past)

Welcome back to a little article review. This time we’re going back to T-Nation and an article from Chris Shugart, their ‘chief content officer.’ The article is called ‘The Non-Linear Diet for Lifters’ and is a take on the semi-recent study of ‘Intermittent Energy Restriction’ by Bill I. Campbell et al. from 2020. Chris begins his article by setting the stage by claiming that losing weight is easy, as it’s ‘basic calorie math’ and
