I’m currently upgrading my work-PC from the old Intel i9 9900K to the current i9 13900K and the Z790 chipset. Which simply means a new motherboard, processor and memory. Unfortunately, I missed the fact that they have updated the Noctua cooler since I bought it in 2020. So, when I checked it online, it said it supported socket 1700, but the one I had did not — it only supported the old 115X. In other words, I had to order a new cooler today and I opted for the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 5. This means that my work-PC is currently dismantled and in pieces, and I will not be able to finish it until tomorrow evening.
As I’m left with my server, which is very ‘bare boned’ and does not have any of the programs I usually use for editing and pictures, nor my 3-screen setup, I’m not sure that I’m going to be able to post a daily article tomorrow, June 14, 2024. And to be truthful, I’m not that eager to move the server to my work location, hook it up to my displays, and install all the software needed for simply a few hours of work and one article.
So, if there’s no new article tomorrow, please take a few minutes to check my Quick-Start Archives instead. There’s several hundred articles listed in categories, and if that is not enough, you can always check all the categories and yearly archives. There’s about 1500 articles online to choose from.

Update, June 14
Well, the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 5 cooler I ordered and that was shipped yesterday early afternoon. and promised to arrive today, did not even get registered by the totally useless package delivery company — yes, Postnord. They actually messed up one of the parcels earlier this week, which got delayed by a day. Anyway, I have no idea where my cooler is, as they claim that they have not even received it, which is total bollocks. They messed up the scanning at their terminal yesterday evening. Perhaps it will arrive tomorrow, as they claim that they do some deliveries on Saturdays, otherwise it will not be here until Monday at the earliest. So far, my statistics with Postnord is about a 75% fail rate with either delays or damaged parcels. I always try to avoid them, unfortunately most of the major computer and electronic businesses have them as the only delivery option as they are the largest shipping company in Sweden by far (but also the worst in the entire world.)
In other words, there will not be many updates or new articles until I have all the parts and have assembled and set up my new PC. Perhaps it will be finished by tomorrow evening, but worst case scenario, not until Tuesday.
Update, June 15
Postnord did miss the sorting and scanning on Thursday and did not register my parcel (the cooler) until Friday evening. For some reason, they will not deliver today, Saturday (although they claim that they do just that on their website,) but have instead listed a scheduled delivery for Monday. So, in other words, four days were totally wasted by their negligence and incompetence (as I’ve already parted with some of my old components and cannot put my old system back together.)
With that said, everything should be back to normal by Tuesday or Wednesday. I might try and write some short article on my old barebone server (where I’m typing now,) as I feel bored and under-stimulated from not writing, nor really working, because of this.
And yes, my old server, which is simply a local backup server with RAID for photos, videos, and other data, is running an old i7 4770K processor on a Z87 system that is not really compatible with Windows 11, although I got it to work somewhat. But all my software licenses are used on my work-PC and this machine can’t even really handle these programs anyway, so… I don’t really feel like spending several hours trying to set up a temporary working environment with such an old machine. All I have is Google Docs and a bare-bone image editor.
Well, I’m off to visit my father and keep him company for a few hours. Hopefully I’ll be back in a day or so with something — or at least, absolutely latest, on Tuesday.
