Cutting Carbs To Keep Lean? You Should Never Eat Carbs At All!

Today we return to the old and mainstream bodybuilding and fitness magazine Muscle & Fitness and an article on a recent study on carbohydrate restriction. And this little coverage actually brought some new hope for the mainstream media. Let’s see what they had to say.

“Counting calories has long been understood to offer the best chance of maintaining a healthy body weight, but many people find it difficult to sustain this approach. Fortunately, a new study by researchers at the University of Surrey in England has found that the far less complicated method of cutting carbs can offer similar benefits.”

Counting calories, as in heat units, is extremely retarded and useless, as calories is a concept of physics and has nothing to do with human physiology as our body extracts energy by chemical reactions, not by combustion. I’ve covered this more times that I can remember for the last 20 years or so.

And “cutting carbs” is not something new, that is our natural human diet, as humans are obligate hyper carnivores and we are only meant to consume animal-based foods. Anything from the plant kingdom is inherently toxic to us and causes severe damage, especially carbohydrates. This is also something I covered more time than I can count, backed by real science as in physiology and biochemistry.

And as for the “fitness industry,” before the carbohydrates propaganda in the late 70’s and 80’s, every single bodybuilder got lean by relying on meat and eggs. They simply understood what was natural. For example, Vince Gironda, one of the better trainers of that era, recommended an animal-based meat and egg diet that was totally void of any plant-based crap.

“The study, published in the European Journal of Nutrition, showed that low carb diets, regardless of calories, led to better metabolic markers and superior handling of high-fat meals including a reduction in circulating triglycerides, the type of fat that is associated with heart disease.”

Triglycerides are organic compounds consisting of one glycerol molecule and three fatty acid molecules, connected through ester linkages. They are not harmful in a healthy body with normal blood glucose levels, as they are natural and a vital component of human health, serving as an energy reserve. However, if you have been deceived into consuming carbohydrates, your body will form triglycerides from the breakdown of dietary fats and carbohydrates, thus increasing the levels of triglycerides above normal physiological levels, the same way as carbohydrates increases blood glucose above normal and safe physiological levels. This will stress the body and cause a lot of damage, mostly from the enzymatic conversion process (oxidation) of making them bio-active. Also, increased blood glucose causes glycation of fatty acids and amino acids, really increasing the damage being done to your cardiovascular system and any cells.

So, to conclude, normal levels of triglycerides as seen in a normal ketogenic and fat adapted metabolism where carbohydrates are very low or totally removed from the diet is very good and essential for human health and survival. However, elevated triglycerides that also become damaged by high blood glucose is very bad, as it stresses the body and the damaged triglycerides can damage tissues.

In other words, reducing carbohydrates will improve this scenario, and removing carbohydrates altogether will totally eliminate this problem and promote superior health.

How was the study carried out?

“Overweight or obese participants aged between 20 and 65 were given three different diets to follow:

  1. Meals including carbs (55% of total energy)
  2. Meals with low carbs (50g)
  3. Calorie restricted meals with low carbs (50g)”

Yes, I covered this study in a previous article from May 20, 2025, as it was reviewed by the imbeciles at Examine.com. However, this article has another perspective, so it’s worth repeating.

Anyway, 50 grams of carbohydrates is not really “low-carb.” It’s a half-assed low-carb approach. You will see much better results with a true ketogenic diet, especially if you only consume animal-based foods as you should as a human. A ketogenic diet is typically below 20 grams of carbohydrates a day, preferably as close to zero as possible, which will be achieved if you follow your natural human diet.

50 grams of carbohydrates a day will not really put you in ketosis for more than a few hours a day at most, unless you’re active. And considering that the test subjects ranged between 20- and 65-years-of-age. It’s likely that the younger people in the study entered ketosis for most of the day and got better benefits, while the older participants only got some benefits from lowered blood glucose, as in lowered triglycerides.

“We found that by simply restricting carbohydrates, without enduring extreme calorie restriction, we can reap the metabolic effects associated with short-term fasting,” said Dr Adam Collins, co-author of the study and Associate Professor of Nutrition at the University of Surrey.  “This suggests that periodically reducing our carbohydrate intake could be a more accessible and sustainable way for people to manage and improve their metabolic health.”

Yes it will, and if you actually use that brain of yours, you should say that reducing carbohydrates for the rest of your life will improve metabolic health and keep it at a higher level. If you for some retarded reason were to reintroduce more carbohydrates to your diet again, you would increase the damage and once again destroy your metabolic health (and further reduce your lifespan.) So, why only do what is right, beneficial, and natural “periodically?” That makes no sense. Again, humans are obligate hyper carnivores. We should never consume carbohydrates as long as we have the option and ability to sustain ourselves on our natural diet, as in animal-based foods.

“Indeed, the data showed that even just one day on a low carb diet brought metabolic benefits, including increased fat burning capability and a lower blood sugar level following meals. The low carb approach also led to an improved insulin balance. The findings suggest that low-carb eating, even in brief doses, may be a powerful tool for enhancing metabolic function and supporting fitness goals like weight loss and improved energy.”

At least the author acknowledges these things, which is remarkable for such a mainstream publication that usually promotes what the Food Industry and the Supplement Industry tells them to. Still, it’s not something you should only do periodically to feel better about yourself. As soon as you go back to eating carbohydrates, you inflict tons of damage to your body, and for what reason? The fact is that we perform better and have more energy when we are in ketosis and are fat adapted, where we can manufacture as much glucose as we need through gluconeogenesis and also use all the fat as energy available to us — as in both body fat and fat from the diet.

“This research offers a promising new perspective on dietary interventions for metabolic health and could have an impact on managing conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and obesity,” concluded Dr Collins.”

Yes, the only way to reverse type 2 diabetes, which I have done in many, many clients, is by adopting our natural species-appropriate carnivore diet — as in consuming only fully bioavailable and natural animal protein and fat, and not a single gram of carbohydrates or vile seed/vegetable oils. Again, all modern “diseases” are caused by a species inappropriate diet, as in consuming plant-based and processed crap. Remove the offender, and you will heal to the best of your abilities.

“So, next time you’re tempted to reach for the rice or pile on the pasta just remember that skipping carbs could be a smarter choice. While calorie counting can feel like a full-time job, simply dialing back your carbs—even for a day—can deliver impressive results with far less math.”

Indeed, and to make it even better and actually reverse ailments and health conditions, transition to our natural species-appropriate diet by “dialing back” your carbs a little every week until you’re following a ketogenic diet, and from there do the same thing with anything plant-based that is still in your diet until you are fully animal-based. This will slowly fix any health problems and also maximize your lifespan. And more importantly, our natural diet will increase life quality and you will actually age in grace being healthy, and not age while combating multiple diseases and ending up in an elderly home with people wiping your ass. Choose wisely. Start cutting out all plant-based and processed crap today!

If you need help with any kind of health problems or transitioning from your current way of eating to our natural species-appropriate, species-specific way of eating, I’m available for both coaching and consultation.
