Today we return to one of the worst and dumbest writers on the Internet, the imbecile Matt Weik of Ironmagazine. So far, he’s covered a lot of really retarded diets and “quick-fixes,” never really pointing out the extreme obvious flaws and dangers. Let’s see how he does this time…
“What if I told you to go eat potatoes as a diet? You’d think I’m crazy, right? But there’s actually a new diet called the Potato Diet.”
No it’s not new. And also, government agents and shills come up with the most ridiculous, stupid, and dangerous diets and trends all the time only to mock the masses and have a laugh as some stupid people actually buy into it and try it. They play this game with their ‘peasants’ all the time, and have done so all through history. None of these retarded diets or trends are organic, as in real, which is obvious when they actually get exposure and tend to go “viral” as in people actually hearing about them although they are a joke and actually dangerous.
As for “potato diets,” they actually go back to 1849 and the premise has been to eat nothing but potatoes for about 5 days as a “reset” and “quick weight loss.” Of course, this retarded approach named “mono diets” or “monotrophic diets” has been done with several other toxic slave foods, such as the “banana diet,” the “apple diet,” the “beet diet, the “grapefruit diet,” the “brown rice diet,” the “cabbage soup diet,” the “breadfruit diet” and any extremely toxic and idiotic “juice fast” or “fast mimicking diet” imaginable.

Although the duration is quite short, as in 3 to 5 days, trying to “reset” or “detoxify” the body by consuming toxic foods is simply nonsensical and very damaging to the body. A normal water fast would be many times more effective and also a lot less damaging, even if you were to have some minor nutrient deficiencies to begin with, which would limit the results.
With that said, it’s important to point out how idiotic, how unhealthy, and how dangerous these diet fads are, as we need to fight the constant flow of destructive misinformation. Also, a lot of people misinterpret the “rules” and follow these self-destructive diets for much longer than 3 to 5 days, sometimes doing them for weeks, really setting themselves up for severe health consequences (kind of like the extremely retarded fruitarian diet or simply veganism.)
So Matt, with that in mind, let’s see how you will fare.
“This latest diet craze promises rapid weight loss through an unlikely approach: consuming nothing but plain white potatoes. But is this trend a legitimate nutrition strategy or just another fleeting fad?
We’ve seen diet fads come and go. And this could be just another one of them, but it’s worth talking about so you’re aware.”
For f**k’s sake, Matt. Do you even have to raise that question? A legitimate nutrition strategy? Are you joking? You are, right?
“At its core, the potato diet strips away everything except plain white potatoes. There are no seasonings, condiments, or variety — just potatoes in their most basic form.”
Not only is that an extreme nutritionless starvation diet contributing to a very high toxic load, especially in dangerous glycoalkaloids, phenolic acids, flavonoids, goitrogens, oxalates, and lectins (read the simple summaries below,) but considering its bland unpalatable taste, it will be like chewing saw dust. Frikkin’ disgusting.

Also, if you were to actually fast, growth hormone would peak and your muscle mass would be protected. But as you actually are eating, this will not happen, and as potatoes provide about zero protein and nutrients, you will instead be in starvation mode, so while you will lose a little bit of fat, you might also lose a little bit of muscle mass, all while taxing the organs to their max due to the enormous amounts of toxins.
Adding to that, the extreme amounts of oxalates and lectins from only consuming potatoes will really mess up your digestive tract as lectins not only block absorption of most minerals, they can also bind to the walls of the digestive system, damaging the tissue and eventually making holes in the intestine walls (leaking gut) leading to serious problems such increased toxic load, increased cardiovascular damage, nutrient malabsorption, digestive issues (gas, bloating, upset stomach, nausea,) and so on.
“While proponents claim dramatic weight loss, nutritionists and health experts raise significant red flags about this extreme approach (myself included). As a sports nutritionist, I can say that I’d personally never recommend this diet to anyone, but perhaps there are some benefits some people may not be aware of.”
Matt, do you really call yourself a sports nutritionist? I used to be one myself for 20+ years and even my basic knowledge when I started out in the 90’s ran circles around yours, so please, take a piece of that humble pie. How should I say this as nicely as possible? Well… You have zero understanding of anything relating to nutrition, much less human physiology and simple biochemistry. You’re just a stupid twat reeking of incompetence. I think we’ve proven that enough times by now from all the article reviews I’ve done.
And weight loss is not necessarily a healthy thing. Especially not when it’s forced by a bad and lacking diet, as in starvation and malnutrition. Instead, we need to look at what caused the excessive weight gain, as in poor food choices, toxicity, and overeating, and then reverse that — as in introducing nutritious animal-based foods and focus on improving health, and fat loss will follow as a natural effect of simple lifestyle changes.
Being overweight or obese is not the main problem, the main problem is whatever caused it to happen.
What is the Potato Diet?
Did you not already explain this? Nothing but retarded unhealthy and toxic white potatoes for about five days?
“The potato diet is a short-term weight loss approach in which potatoes are the sole calorie source.”
No, calories are a measurement of heat production, a concept of physics, it has nothing to do with the human body and its chemical reactions. What you likely meant to say is that “in which potatoes are the sole source of nutrition.” Or, even more correct, as they do not contain any nutrition, “in which potatoes are the sole source of the crap you put in your pie hole.”
“Rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, this diet claims you can lose about a pound a week by consuming only plain potatoes.”
A pound a week? Not a day or for every 3-5 days? As you should only do it for 3-5 days. And that is if people can actually refrain from binging as soon as they return to their bad diets.
And again, Matt, calling yourself a “sports nutritionist” is very cringey. Although “sports nutrition” is hijacked inverted pseudo-science and complete nonsense, the vitamins and minerals in any plant-based edible is not in the same chemical form as we store them in the human body and thus they are not bioavailable to humans. And again, the conversion is abysmal and very toxic. And as for fiber, it is extremely useless and also damaging to our intestines, as our short digestive system is made for animal-based foods and not for fermentation of indigestible plant matter. These are basic-level facts of biology.

“Variations exist, but the core principle remains simple: eat nothing but potatoes for several days. Due to its highly restrictive nature, the diet is not recommended for long-term use and should be approached with caution.”
Approached with caution? It should not even be considered. It’s a cruel joke, as all fad diets are.
After this, Matt explains the “rules” of the ‘potato diet,’ which finally say that it should only be followed for five days, that no salt or condiments should be used (making it even more unpalatable,) and that you should limit activities and exercise. But for some reason extremely toxic tea or coffee is allowed, likely because of withdrawal symptoms while these will keep you in a fight-or-flight response due to the acute poisoning, giving you the false feeling of energy.
I’ve covered this in-depth in my articles “Caffeine is a Defense Chemical and a Potent Poison — Do Not Neglect Accumulated Damage,” and “Cafestol, a Diterpene Found in Coffee, is Extremely Toxic and Will Cause Cellular Damage.”
The Alleged Benefits of the Potato Diet
Yes, I put the word ‘alleged’ into that header to make it more truthful, as there are no benefits. Still, let’s see what this food- and supplement industry shill Matt Weik comes up with.
“1. Weight loss
While dedicated research on the potato diet remains limited, its weight loss potential stems from calorie restriction. Consuming 2-5 pounds of potatoes daily provides just 530-1,300 calories, substantially lower than typical adult dietary recommendations.”
Not calories, from energy and nutrition restrictions, as in causing starvation. Again, this is totally irrelevant and compared to real fasting which actually helps you to detoxify and heal, this is laughable.
“Potatoes contain an intriguing compound called proteinase inhibitor 2 (PI2), which may suppress appetite by slowing digestion.”
Intriguing? Did you not call yourself a “sports nutritionist,” Matt? Proteinase inhibitors, including Proteinase Inhibitor II (PI-II), interfere with the digestion of proteins by inhibiting the activity of proteases, which are enzymes that break down proteins into smaller peptides and amino acids. This will reduce the nutritional value of food by reducing the digestibility of proteins. In a sense, you could label proteinase inhibitors as antinutrients, although they do not bind to the nutrients themselves, but instead block the activity of the enzymes that break down the nutrients into something the body can use. Now, on a retarded “potato diet,” this does not matter much, as potatoes barely contain any protein at all, but if you consume potatoes with other foods that contain protein, this is a big problem as you will reduce the protein that you can absorb from that meal!

Also, since potatoes do not contain any significant amount of protein, the effect will barely be noticeable if you only consume potatoes, so there will not really be any “suppression” of appetite. However, considering their extreme toxicity and unpalatable nature, you will likely not feel like eating again for a long time.

“2. It may improve digestion
Some individuals are drawn to the potato diet for its digestive and weight loss benefits. Potatoes are remarkably easy to digest, offering a gentle approach to the gastrointestinal tract. Their high fiber content helps keep the digestive system moving efficiently.”
Matt, you imbecile. That is complete pseudoscience. There is not one single proof in any literature that humans need fiber in their diet. Zero! There is however a lot of scientific proof that humans do a lot better as soon as you reduce, or better yet, eliminate all fiber. Do your research you dimwit, and stop parroting the fake pseudoscience you were taught by your slave masters puppets in school. Humans are obligate hyper carnivores!

“3. Short-term & easy to follow
If you prefer short-term diets for quick results, you may be fond of the potato diet, which lasts five days. While proponents claim you can lose up to one pound per day, this is not an ideal goal.”
First you say a pound a week, now it’s a pound a day? Well… A pound a day, or 450 grams a day, almost 0,5 kg, is possible due to loss of muscle glycogen and water weight. However, a simple water fast will be way more effective, safer, and actually provide benefits instead of poisoning you.
To be frank, Matt, I have no idea why you even try to defend this horrid approach by making up “benefits.” Well, let’s see where you go next.
Is the Potato Diet Safe?
“Personally, I see several drawbacks to the potato diet and wouldn’t recommend it for most people. Not only that, but I don’t see many people being able to stick to the diet, even for a short period of time. Eating nothing but white potatoes for days sounds incredibly boring and bland.”
And here you go, taking the other side, trying to please everyone by walking the middle ground. The typical stance of any fake influencer these days. Too scared to tell the hard truth as you desperately want to be liked by as many as possible. Frikkin’ cowards, all of you.
Also, your “wouldn’t recommend it to most people” is another bland middle ground statement. How about not recommending it to anyone, as it is totally retarded! Again, do fasting instead!
And if someone can’t do a few days of fasting, you slowly condition them to be able to do it. Either by first reducing their eating windows, as in time-restricted eating, and then by removing one meal once or twice a week, and so on. Or you could let them try a day of only consuming some animal fats and zero protein, kind of mimicking fasting in the sense of shutting down mTOR. Such an approach would be a thousand times healthier than using retarded potatoes and would also result in some fat loss. However, any “quick fixes” and short-term diet fads are usually the wrong way to go as people will fall back into their old habits anyway. You must fix the underlying problems, as in the diet and the approach to food.
“The first thing wrong with the potato diet is that it has significant nutritional drawbacks. Potatoes lack sufficient protein, which means weight loss could predominantly involve muscle mass reduction, a counterproductive outcome for healthy weight management.”
I already mentioned this. And this, Matt, is also why your stupid theory about proteinase Inhibitor II will not make any difference, as it will only “slow down digestion” if a lot of protein is present as the breakdown of protein to amino acids will go a lot slower (and some protein will not be broken down at all, passing by undigested.) Again Matt, do you really call yourself a “sports nutritionist?” Ah, the awkwardness and embarrassment, I can almost touch it.

Again, if you feel full and do not want to eat on such a toxic diet as the “potato diet,” it is because of the toxic load, the acute poisoning, the stress on the body and it keeping you from inducing more harm, and also from the awful taste and texture.

“Low protein intake compromises muscle preservation, while potatoes’ minimal micronutrients, such as iron, zinc, and vitamins, create potential nutritional deficiencies.”
First you said, and I quote, “rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals,” and now you flip-flop like a world-stage politician receiving a new script and actually tell a part of the truth. Funny.
To be perfectly truthful though, potatoes lack a lot of nutrients and the few that are present are still in the wrong chemical form, as in any plant-based edible. And to make things worse, potatoes are ridden with antinutrients, defense chemicals, heavy metals, and also pesticides and other chemicals that are absorbed by the plant on the ground and transferred to the tubers that grow underground.

“Additionally, potatoes’ high glycemic index triggers blood sugar spikes, leading to energy fluctuations and intense cravings.”
You mean the carbohydrates that cause an unnatural raise of blood glucose above normal levels which is very toxic and damaging to all our soft tissues, including our organs. Also, it’s kind of funny, Matt, that you first mentioned satiation and not being hungry, and now you claim potatoes cause cravings, as in making you want to eat something.

Well, carbohydrates are simply another toxic variable to add to the very long list. It’s not looking good for the “potato diet.” And here’s a fee tip. If you want to be healthy, simply avoid anything plant-based.
“While the diet might produce short-term weight loss, its long-term sustainability is questionable. Once regular eating resumes, rapid weight regain is likely.”
I already mentioned this.
“If you want to try it, go for it. But I’m not going to be the one out there saying this is even remotely close to something I’d try or recommend.”
I would say that you should avoid it at all cost, as it is damaging and unhealthy, pretty much in the same way as any kind of fad diet or approach that includes anything that is plant-based.
